NDesk

NDesk is a tool that allows a network administrator to configure and manage Norman Virus Control (NVC) installations within a network from a single workstation. NDesk can be used to install NVC directly to Windows NT, 2000, XP Professional or 2003 machines and to monitor the status of the NVC installation on all Windows machines in a network.

Configuration File Management

NVC’s scanners can be configured to meet the varying degrees of risk that departments and entire organizations are exposed to. The different configuration files are stored centrally on the distribution server. NDesk allows these files to be grouped and managed from a central point 

Task File Management

A variety of task files may be required for various situations. These too can be grouped and stored centrally on the distribution server. NDesk allows these files to be grouped and managed from a central point. 

Network Distribution Management

The network is displayed as a list of machines, grouped according to a range of IP addresses, which can be refreshed at any time.

NDesk detects which machines are connected in the network. By communicating with Norman Program Manager - Zanda - on these machines, NDesk can also resolve the state of an NVC installation. A number of functions are available in this category.

Install Zanda - Copy a set of files needed to install and run the Zanda service, which in turn will copy the NVC files from the distribution server and install NVC on the selected machine(s).
Details - Display a detailed overview of the different NVC components on the selected machine.
Scan now - Scan for viruses and malware on the selected machine(s).
Update now - Instruct selected machine(s) to update immediately from the local NVC distribution server.

NIUcf

NIUcf is a configuration tool from where network administrators can configure which Norman products, language(s) and platforms to download updates for a network.

SelfXWiz

SelfXWiz is a tool for creating NVC distribution packages. This approach is often used to distribute NVC in Windows 9x/Me networks or in NT-based networks where the local users have administrator privileges on their computer. Packages (Nvc5w32.exe) created with SelfXWiz may for example run from a logon script or through MSI distribution.
