Lysaker, April 20th 1998
Norman Data Defense Systems announces a new server-based product to detect and clean viruses in Microsoft Exchange databases.
The product, Norman Virus Control for Microsoft Exchange, guards the main entry point for viruses in an Exchange environment with real-time scanning of e-mail attachments. Manual scanning options allow the system administrator to clean up old infections and make periodic sweeps in mail folders.
In a groupware environment, virus scanning is most effective at the server-level, where files and objects are shared and stored centrally. Norman Virus Control (NVC) for Microsoft Exchange is a completely native Exchange virus protection solution and is fully compatible with Microsoft Exchange servers.
A beta version of the product was demonstrated at CeBIT98 in Hannover last month.
"Due to the positive response and extensive interest from the market we believe this is the right timing for this product. Norman announced NVC for Lotus Domino last November. Introducing virus control for MS Exchange gives our customers a complete range of solutions for their platforms"
