Norman Personal Firewall 1.0 stops hackers:

Data security company Norman ASA announced today the introduction of a new product to its data protection family. Norman Personal Firewall 1.0 has been designed for office workstations and home computer users and in addition to stopping unauthorised access to your computer, the application is also very user-friendly and easy to install.

Norman Personal Firewall 1.0 has been designed to secure workstations whether it has been installed on a company network or a home PC.

Easy installation

Kenneth Walls, who is responsible for development of Norman Personal Firewall, says that: "We have developed a technically advanced product, but we have made the usually so extensive and complex product configuration extremely easy. Even the most inexperienced user will be able to install and use the application without problems."

Using "Freshies Assistant" the inexperienced user is guided through simple configuration of the rules for how the firewall shall function. More advanced and skilled users can configure the firewall manually.

Messages that keep popping up!

Those who are accustomed to using firewalls know that messages and queries keep popping up and asking whether you want the firewall to allow cookies, java script. etc. In most firewalls you can choose whether the application shall remember whether you do not allow this or whether this shall only be allowed this one time for this web page. In addition to this, Norman Personal Firewall 1.0 lets you choose whether this shall apply just this one time from the time you logon and until you logoff the Internet.

Increased threat from hackers

Increasing use of broadband and access to the Internet via cable means that an increasing number of users are constantly connected to the Internet, which increases the risk of a hacker attack. The risk increases proportionally according to the time you are connected to the Internet. However the IP-blocking function in Norman Personal Firewall 1.0 allows the user to be connected securely to the Internet without fear of a hacker attack. It prevents incoming and outgoing Internet traffic based on rules which, among other things, determine which application has access to the Internet, whether you are allowed to send and receive e-mail and to which web pages you have access.

Standard functionality for a personal firewall

Norman Personal Firewall 1.0 contains everything you expect of a firewall, such as a cookie manager, which allows you to choose whether you will allow cookies to collect information about you and your PC and an ad-blocker, which blocks all the advertising that you usually see on the various web pages you visit and thus helps to speed up downloading. Content blocking also prevents ActiveX, JavaScript applications from gaining access to your PC.

Complete data protection package from Norman

With the introduction of Norman Personal Firewall, the new version of Norman Virus Control 5 and Norman Mail Privacy Norman now offers a complete data protection package for home PC users.

Norman Personal Firewall 1.0 can be run on Windows 95/98/ME or NT/2000 Professional.
