DnB has entered into an agreement with Norman ASA on the supply of anti-virus programs to all of their Internet-Banking customers.

Den norske Bank has approximately 30.000 customers that use the Internet to pay their bills. They will now be offered Norman Virus Control (NVC), to use on their own computers, included in the price for Internet payments.

- This is a pleasant New Year's gift to all our Internet customers and we are pleased to be able to give such a good offer to them. That we can contribute to giving our customers a safer computer environment is extra nice. It is also very delightful that this type of service can be delivered by a Norwegian company like Norman. Security is a success and safety factor on the Internet, and an area that we prioritize, says Bjørn Kloster, Internet Responsible in DnB.

- The volume of customers DnB has that make their payments on the Internet, and the growth we expect in the future, has led to a very good deal with Norman. We let our customers share the advantages of this, says Bjørn Kloster.

Early

- The agreement is unique because DnB can offer a true added value in addition to the regular customer relationship. With an increased number of Internet customers the requirements of data security will increase correspondingly and DnB wants to be on the cutting edge in this area. The agreement enables DnB to offer their customers a safer environment on the Internet, says Jan Kristiansen, Vice President of Norman ASA.

DnB has already installed Norman Virus Control on their internal systems. This existing relationship means that both parties are well prepared for the extended co-operation, and a co-operation for which both parties have great expectations to maintain for many years to come.

This is one of the most important agreements that we done the past few years. We look at it as a large recognition of our products that DnB has chosen us as a supplier of data security products. We want to work in close co-operation with the large banks in order to secure their customers from abuse and unauthorized access by different parties, says Jan Kristensen.

The content of the offer

All of DnB's Internet customers will receive an email with user identity and password, as well as instructions as to how to download and install the program. The agreement includes both main updates and new virus signatures that arrive approximately once a week, depending on the prevalence of new viruses. Updates can be downloaded free of charge from Norman ASA. The offer includes one year of free upgrading (regular price is approximately NOK 700 per year). NVC consists of different modules that handle different aspects if a possible virus attack was to take place. Per January 2000 NVC version 4.7 will find more than 40 000 known viruses. Norman ASA is responsible in connection to technical questions related to the software. Telephone support is available from Norman.
