The Data security company Norman ASA warns against a new massmailer worm currently known as W32/Naked@mm.73728.Worm with an attachment called NakedWife.exe.

This is a dangerous email worm that has been reported from numerous locations in the US. The worm is written in Visual Basic 6.

This worm is also very dangerous. It will attempt to delete *.com, *.exe, *.dll *.bmp, *.log and *.ini files on the Windows directory, requiring an operating system reinstallation to make the machine operable again.

If the file is executed, it will spawn Outlook and attempt to send itself to all users in all mailing lists. While this is going on, it brings up a flash animation, see picture attached.

The worm arrives as an email with the following properties:

Subject: Fw : Naked Wife

Body: > My wife never look like that! ;-)

Best Regards, <Infected user>

Attachment: NakedWife.exe

Removal of the worm

Norman Virus Control with definitions files from March 6th or later detects and removes this worm. Users are encouraged to update their Norman Virus Control protection to the most recent version.
