The data security company Norman ASA announced today that its virus control product Norman Virus Control 5.20 has received its fifteenth Virus Bulletin 100% award since Virus Bulletin started comparative tests of antivirus software in 1998.

In its November issue, Virus Bulletin has tested antivirus software on Windows NT. This is the fifteenth time Norman Virus Control receives the 100% award, and the fourth time out of four possible this year. Norman and Symantec now shares the second place in the ranking. Only one company has a higher score, with 16 awards.

The Virus Bulletin awards are given to products that detect 100% of "in the wild" viruses in test samples offered by Virus Bulletin, a leading independent testing facility based in the U.K.

- Since Virus Bulletin started the tests in January 1998, Norman has performed very well, placing its anti virus products among the best performing on the market. This is a proof of a stable product that does the job it's meant for - detecting and repairing computer viruses. The test also shows that a relatively small Norwegian company can compete with the bigger players, says Bjørn A. Windfeldt, VP Marketing in Norman ASA.

Virus Bulletin is the technical journal on developments in the field of computer viruses and anti-virus products.

The Virus Bulletin 100% awards recognize those products best able to detect viruses known to be 'in the wild'. Unlike some other similar-sounding schemes, Virus Bulletin uses the most up-to-date WildList in its tests. This means that products that are 'up with the game' are the the ones most likely to be granted VB 100% awards. For more information: http://www.virusbtn.com
