Telia has selected Norman as the anti-virus vendor for its security package, which will protect Telias growing number of ADSL customers against viruses and hacking. This was based on an extensive test of the markets best anti-virus products carried out by Peter Kruse, a security expert from Telia Internet.
Telia Denmark and Norman have entered into an agreement on the delivery of a large number of Norman Virus Control licenses. The anti-virus program will protect Telias Danish ADSL users, a customer group which is expected to exceed 10.000 subscribers in 2003.
Telia Denmarks security package will include both Norman Virus Control (NVC) and Telia Personal Firewall, which is supplied by the Danish company Callisoft.
- We selected Norman Virus Control as the program has an extremely high detection rate for viruses, worms, trojan horses and other forms of malware, which spread from PC to PC. Several competing products had problems with full detection in particular with respect to the Klez-virus. Furthermore, NVC is updated automatically and supplied by Norman in a Danish version. These are important considerations for private end-users, says Peter Kruse.
Peter Kruse emphasised in addition NVCs low use of system resources, the programs invisibility for general users and easy to understand feedback if user action is necessary.
As well as the delivery of licenses, Norman will assist Telia with the support of Norman Virus Control.
In 2001, Norman entered into a similar agreement with TeleDenmark.
