PRESS RELEASE
Oslo, 2 December 2003

The Norman Virus Control version 5.7 has been enhanced making it easier to use and thereby be more effective in the continuous fight against malware.

In Norman Virus Control version 5.7 a new module called Norman Cleaning Module (NCM) is implemented in the on-access and on-demand scanners. NCM is transparent to the user and performs clean-up after a complex virus infection, where the virus has made registry changes, for example. Depending on the viral process, the need for additional fixes is reduced because of the automated cleaning process. Thus, the time it will take to recover from virus infections is drastically reduced.
The other major enhancement is the new version of Norman Internet Protection (NIP) with a new and more user-friendly interface making it easier to use. This includes improved connectivity approach to further enhance interoperability with proxy-based applications that uses e-mail functions like personal spam filters, without risking any conflicts between the programs.

Norman Virus Control version 5.7 also includes further enhancements to Normans patent pending technology Norman SandBox v2, making it even more advanced in its ability to detect new unknown malware.
