Norman Data Defense Systems today announces Norman Email Control for Exchange/SMTP ready for delivery.
Trojan and executable analyser detects unknown dangers.
Norman Data Defense Systems Trojan & Executable Scanner can analyse what an executable does, and quarantines any executables that perform suspicious activities, such as Trojan programs. Trojans are dangerous if they enter a victim's computer undetected, granting an attacker-unrestricted access to the data stored on that computer.
Norman Email Control detects new, unknown viruses with SandBox v2 technology.
The Norman SandBox v2 operates by running suspicious files in a virtual computer, a "sandbox", monitoring the actions of the file in real-time. If virus behaviour is detected, the SandBox performs the necessary actions to prevent damage from the virus.
This way, Norman Email Control can detect potentially dangerous, unknown viruses and Trojans before they enter the network.
Other features in Norman Email Control
Norman Email Control for Exchange/SMTP also includes these features:
- Support for Exchange 2003 and Windows Server 2003
- A decompression engine that now supports an industry record of more than 75 compression formats while offering configurable handling of compressed file archives
- Automatic updates to the exploit engine
- Automatic updates of Norman SandBox v2 engine
- A web-based moderator that enables administrators to moderate quarantined items via a web browser
- Improved configuration.
Key features retained
Norman Email Control for Exchange/SMTP has retained its unique combination of email content security and anti-virus features that enable it to remove all types of email-borne threats before they can affect an organization's email users, including:
- Norman Data Defense Systems SandBox v2 technology - for better protection

Pricing, specifications and availability
Norman Email Control pricing starts at 350 EURO for 10 mailboxes; Norman Email Control is available as an SMTP gateway version and as a VS API version. The gateway version should be deployed at the perimeter of the network as a mail relay server and scans inbound and outbound mail. The VS API version integrates seamlessly with Exchange Server 2000/2003 and scans the Exchange 2000/2003 information stores. Both versions can be deployed simultaneously to achieve optimum protection. More product information and a trial version can be found at www.norman.com/
