PRESS RELEASE
Oslo, 12th of May 2003

The data security company Norman ASA warns against the network worm Fizzer.

The worm sends itself to addresses found on the victim's computer - in the address book and other sources. It also sets up a backdoor functionality with connection to an IRC (Intern Relay Channel) server.

The worm uses a large variety of different subject lines, body texts and attachment names, full details of which can be found at www.norman.com.

Norman Virus Control with definitions files from 12th of May 2003 or later detects all known variants of the worm. Users are encouraged to update their Norman Virus Control to the most recent version immediately.
