DnB NOR, Norway’s leading bank, is expanding their cooperation with Norman ASA on data security. The agreement establishes Norman’s position as Norway’s principal provider of antivirus protection for Internet bank users. As a result of the new agreement, one million customers of DnB NOR and Postbanken are offered virus protection through Norman Virus Control (NVC) with SandBox pro-active technology.

The former DnB’s Internet bank customers have already for some time had access to NVC. According to the new agreement, customers of Postbanken and the former Gjensidige NOR are included from next year. The two Norwegian banks, DnB and Gjensidige NOR, merged last year.

“This is yet another recognition of Norman Virus Control’s unique quality. The DnB NOR organisation has a strong focus on computer security, and is among the most demanding of customers. NVC with the SandBox technology will provide state-of-the-art protection for the bank’s Internet customers," says Mr. Henning Hansen, Norman`s CEO.

Norman will also offer DnB NOR’s customers Norman Ad-Aware as a supplement to NVC. This software protects against unwanted advertising and spy programmes (“spyware") that unnoticed can install themselves on the computer and monitor the user’s activities on the Internet. Like viruses, spyware represents a potential security risk. The combination of Norman Virus Control and Norman Ad-Aware contributes to a more secure Internet use.

NVC employs SandBox technology, which pro-actively stops destructive elements. The hefty increase of new, fast spreading computer viruses underlines the importance of this type of protection.
