- give 26 000 students access to Norman Virus Control

The anti-virus specialist Norman Data Defense Systems and Uppsala University have signed an agreement on distribution of Norman’s anti-virus software to over 26,000 students. Uppsala University has purchased licenses for Norman Virus Control, which can be downloaded via the university student portal for those who have an account with UpUnet-S (the university computer network for students).

“Viruses pose a major threat today, and we wanted to reinforce our central anti-virus tools by including the students’ private PCs and thereby achieve a comprehensive virus protection. We chose Norman for its extensive features, because the product is easy-to-use and cost-efficient too," says Lars-Elve Larsson, IT manager, Uppsala University.

“Universities are highly exposed to virus attacks, and many student computers are used as hosts for further distribution. It is a feather in our cap that Uppsala University chooses us in competition with a number of well-known products," says Thomas Thard, Country Manager, Norman Data Defense Systems Sweden. “The agreement with Uppsala University comes as a result of Norman’s focus towards the academic sector in Sweden".

The anti-virus software Norman Virus Control provides an extensive protection against computer viruses where Norman’s unique Sandbox technology works proactively against unknown viruses without the need to have the latest update of the definition files.
