Norman one of the world’s leading providers of proactive virus protection tools, announces that Norman Virus Control for Linux has passed the ICSA Labs Antivirus test.  By passing this test Norman has received ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Product Detection Certification for its antivirus solution for Linux.

DnB NOR, Norway’s leading bank, is expanding their cooperation with Norman ASA on data security. Norman, together with anti-spyware leader Lavasoft, introduces Norman Ad-Aware SE Plus and Professional respectively for single users and organizations. These new programs from Norman are made available to protect computers against undesired programs installing themselves while connected to the Internet.

A newly discovered variant of the MyDoom computer virus collects a so-called back door Trojan from a number of web sites, including one located in Norway, before distributing the Trojan to PC users on a global scale. The outbreak was initially discovered yesterday and since then anti virus specialist Norman has identified the Norwegian web site and had it shut down in order to limit the potential damage.

The antivirus company Norman is now in a position to focus more strongly on its antivirus business following today’s flotation on the Oslo Stock Exchange of its former subsidiary Ibas. Norman’s technology is among the most advanced in the world, and the company aims to become a significant player in the European market.

In the August edition of the British Virus Bulletin magazine Norman ASA has been awarded the Virus Bulletin (VB) 100% award for its antivirus solution Norman FireBreak for Novell Netware.

Norman ASA, today announced that Norman Virus Control offers support for Microsoft’s new Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) with Advanced Security Technologies. Both this Monday’s outbreak of MyDoom.L and last weeks Bagle.AH virus attack were instantly detected and stopped by Norman’s SandBox technology. Norman customers enjoyed immediate and effective protection when the worms attacked.

Norman ASA increased net revenues by 18 percent to 69 million kroner in the second quarter 2004, and in so doing has continued the positive development from the first quarter. The most important reason for growth is an increasing market share in the European antivirus software market.

Norman ASA had net revenues of NOK 73 million in the first quarter 2004. This is an increase of 17% compared with the first quarter 2003. The EBITDA-result for the quarter was NOK 15 million (2003: NOK 10 million), a margin of 20% (2003: 17%), and the pre-tax profit was NOK 13 million (2003: NOK 9 million), a margin of 17% (2003: 14%).
