PRESS RELEASE

Cisco

Norman teams with Cisco to create interoperability between Norman’s antivirus solutions and Cisco's Network Admission Control program (NAC).  This will provide a more secure infrastructure by only admitting cleared clients into the corporate network systems.

Norman’s antivirus solutions will be integrated in Cisco’s “Trust Agent" that controls the security status of each network client. If the client’s profile is insufficient according to NAC’s admission requirements, the client will be quarantined, and temporarily denied access to the network. Alternatively it will be upgraded in accordance with the correct level of security, and then granted access to the network.

The combination of Norman antivirus program and Cisco’s self defending network will actively increase security and reduce risks and costs caused by malware for Norman customers. With more that 1000 new viruses searching for vulnerabilities every day, it is of great importance that the client has the latest security updates and that there are efficient control systems.

- We are experiencing great demands for tools to secure networks and clients from attacks from viruses and worms. Cisco has established the Network Admission Control Program as one of several measures to make sure that servers and clients have the latest updates with the latest signature files before they are allowed to enter the network. We are pleased that a leading supplier like Norman is joining our program, says marketing manager Nils Ove Gamlem at Cisco Systems Norway.

- Cisco’s solutions are widely used by corporations with larger networks, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), banks and other online institutions. Control mechanisms that contribute to reduce the risks for our customers are highly requested. Norman sees this as an important measure for increased security for customers using Cisco’s infrastructure. This is only the first step in a wider cooperation to increase network security for ours and Cisco’s customers, says VP Marketing and Business development, Audun Lødemel at Norman ASA.

The NAC support will be an integrated part of Norman Virus Control. Existing customes will get NAC support as an update to their existing antivirus solutions.
