Press Release
12 October 2007

The October 2007 comparative review done by the renowned security magazine Virus Bulletin honored Norman with the 38th VB 100 award. This makes Norman one of the top performers in Virus Bulletin’s reviews since the start in 1998.
This comparative review was performed on the Novell Netware platform against malware from the WildList. This malware collection is maintained by the WildList Organization International and is created each month, with inputs from over 70 antivirus researchers and corporations world-wide including Norman.
This month's updating in the WildList includes a fairly large number of new arrivals and an even larger number of old items. Newcomers were modifications of : the W32/Mytobs, Rbots, Sdbots and Strations, plus a few each of the file-infecting W32/Looked and Fujacks, the nasty W32/Rontokbro, and the return of W32/Sircam, which fell off the list some time ago but now claws its way back on”, says John Hawes, responsible for carrying out VB's comparative reviews. “With nothing missed in the WildList set and no false positives, Norman earns itself a VB100 award”.
“There are still many organizations having business critical applications running on native Novell Netware. We will continue to support this platform as long there is a demand in the market for it. This award proves that once again we are able to protect our customers across platform needs. We also support various versions of Linux and Microsoft operation systems, and we will continue this strategy because we know it’s important for our customers”, says Audun Lødemel VP marketing and Business development.
Norman Firebreak is the antimalware solution for Novell Netware and includes both the traditional signature-based technology as well as the Norman SandBox. This technology is crucial in today’s fight against the unknown. For more information http://www.norman.com/.
