PRESS RELEASE
Oslo, 15 February 2007

Norman ASA, the data security company, has signed a contract with a major US based IT company licensing Norman’s malware analyzer products. The name of the customer will remain undisclosed, however it is identified as a global provider of IT security and service.

The majority of customers purchasing Norman’s analysis technology prefer to remain anonymous, because they do not wish to provide data criminals with information of which security software are being used.

The contract represents revenue of USD 150,000 over a 12 months period with option for extension. The customer will use Norman SandBox Analyzer and Analyzer PRO to identify and analyze malware behaviour. The contract has been negotiated by Norman’s San Francisco branch.

The product family SandBox Malware Analyzers provides a comprehensive analysis of any executable file action. After the file has been processed it generates reports with in-depth description of file actions in an API log view and a summary report showing the file’s intensions to interact with other programs, the Internet, memory, disk , operating system etc.

 - Espionage and identity theft, botnet (zombie) attacks, trojans and phishing, is a growing concern. Major organizations are increasingly the victim of individual and targeted attacks, which traditional virus protection has a hard time fighting. This creates a rapidly growing market for Norman’s analyzer products. It is critical to our customers to understand the intention of the malware and the consequences an attack will have to their information systems. Based on this information the customers are able to take countermeasures in time. At the core of the product is Norman’s unique SandBox technology, says Trygve Aasland, Norman’s President and CEO.

Since the product was launched last fall, Norman has sold analyzer products to several national security agencies and defense institutions as well as a number of major corporations. A large group of corporations and national security agencies are currently conducting trials with Norman’s new product line.

- We experience a great interest in these products in the US, but also European companies and security agencies are starting to recognize Norman’s analyzer products as important tools in the fight against computer crime. This contract is proof that we are a front runner when it comes to solutions like this, and is an important milestone for further development of this business area, says Trygve Aasland.
