Norman partners with Vircom to provide complete email security for SMBs

(Fairfax, VA) - Norman Data Defense Systems, the North American subsidiary of Norman ASA, a global AV specialist, announced today that it selected Vircom’s ModusGate to provide anti-SPAM and other e-mail security features to Norman customers and partners in the U.S. and Canada. ModusGate is an anti-SPAM and email security solution offered as an add-on to the Norman Virus Control Business Suite, which provides multi-tiered network anti-virus protection.

Best-of-breed anti-SPAM

Hank Dugan, CEO of Norman Data Defense Systems, Inc., Norman’s North American subsidiary, commented, “Vircom’s ModusGate anti-SPAM protection will now allow Norman customers an added essential defense against another ubiquitous security threat in today’s marketplace. Growing SPAM traffic disrupts the flow of important information in the workplace and provides an entry point for malware and other security threats. ModusGate leads the industry in offering the most efficient and effective SPAM protection that we’ve tested."

Norman and Vircom have been partners since 2001 when Norman’s Scanning Engine was integrated into Vircom’s product line, including ModusGate. Based in Montreal, Vircom has been serving customers in the U.S. and 100 other countries since 1994. Both Norman and Vircom serve an international customer and partner base, with a particular focus on the SMB marketplace.

Sylvain Durocher, President and CEO of Vircom, further explained the relationship. “One of the main reasons Vircom and Norman work so well together is that both companies focus on providing top-notch service to SMB customers and partners. With similar business models, and best-in-industry products, we are excited by the opportunity to offer our ModusGate product line to Norman customers and partners."

About Norman’s SandBox technology

Norman’s product line is unique in the AV industry because of its proactive SandBox detection capability. The Norman SandBox (U.S. patent pending) can identify new, unknown viruses through a simulation technology that occurs before AV vendors have even released virus identification files.
