This document describes the program which Norman’s customers (and other interested) may subscribe to - Norman Virus Alert Program.
Norman Virus Alert Program intends to offer the subscribers a special service in situations when a virus alert situation occurs. Special emphasis is given to situations that are the not normal ones. I.e. virus alert situations which arise during week-ends and holidays.
However, the virus alert functions which are supposed to be triggered internally in Norman, and the external virus alerts which are the outcome of these, will come into effect in "normal alert situations" as well (e.g. alerts during normal working hours).
All communication to participants in the program in an alert situation is initially handled from Norman ASA in Norway. This is the part of the Norman group where the virus analysis is done.
Norman Virus Alert Program in more detail
Norman Virus Alert Program is a way for customers and other interested parties to get information about malicious programs as soon as possible. The program is only triggered in situations seen as particularly serious.
Two mailing lists are set up on Norman ASA’s list server. These are mailing lists which may be subscribed to by all Norman's customers and other interested parties for a yearly fee. The information on these lists is sent to Norman's subsidiaries and distributors as well as the other subscribers.
Thus, subscribers on the lists are informed about the alert situation at the same time as Norman's own organization is informed.
The information supplied from these lists is going to be in English.
The alert lists are:
- Alarm list which is a mailing list informing the subscribers when special virus alert situations arise.
The persons on this list are going to get an e-mail message in a virus alert situation. This mail describes the incident and refers to a web page on Norman ASA’s web site in Norway (the English part).
The e-mail may include a user name and a password which can be used to download new virus detection files or special fixes for a particular virus. - Mobile phone list - which is a short version of the above-mentioned alert list.
Subscribers to this list are alerted by receiving a short mobile phone e-mail text message (SMS message) which refers to an English web page on Norman ASA’s web site.
These lists are only to be used in alert situations.
Information to both lists is going to be sent out at the same time.
Subscription
Any Norman customer or other interested party may subscribe to these lists for a yearly fee.
Contact your local Norman subsidiary or distributor, or directly to international@norman.no - phone +47-67-10-97-00 - if there is no Norman representative in your country which offer this product.
One e-mail address is included in each of these lists for a yearly fee.
One may subscribe to one list only or to both for the same subscription fee. Norman recommends that subscribers to the Mobile phone list subscribe to the Alarm list as well, as the latter includes more information.
If you need to have more than one person alerted in such situations, we recommend that a generic e-mail address is created on your mail server. E-mails to this address are then forwarded to those who should be alerted.
