Problem
When trying to upgrade your operating system from Windows XP to Windows Vista you get a message stating that Norman Virus Control is not compatible with Vista.
Solution
You should remove the current version of Norman Virus Control from you system before upgrading, and thereafter install Norman Virus Control for Windows Vista.
Remove Norman Virus Control
Before you remove Norman Virus Control you should save your current authentication key, as this will be needed during reinstallation for Norman Virus Control for Windows Vista. You will find the authentication key by right clicking the N icon at the lower right hand side of your screen and selecting Configuration editor.
- Open your Start-menu
- Open Control Panel
- Open “Add or Remove Programs"
- Select Norman Virus Control in list over currently installed programs
- Click the Change/Remove button
- Check the Remove option
- Click Next
- Click Finish
- Restart you computer
Upgrade to Windows Vista
You can now resume or restart your upgrade.
Install Norman Virus Control for Windows Vista
You can download Norman Virus Control for Windows Vista from this page.
Use the authentication key you saved from your old installation when you install the Vista version of the program.
