After a full download via Internet Update, some users have chosen to install only parts of the full update from the ...\Distrib\Download folder - for example the scanner engine and definition file packets.

In NVC v5.8 a lot of packets have changed names. For users who used to pick NVC10001.ZIP (previously main definition files for Win 9.x), NVC10002.ZIP (previously main definition files for WinNT/2000/XP) and NVC11001.ZIP (previously incremental definition file), the consequences for the Win 9.x platform will now be damaging. The consequences for the NT/2000/XP platform are also serious, as the machines will not employ new definition files. The packets with these names in v5.8 have a different content, and the definition files are moved to other packets.

Norman still strongly recommends that everything in the ...\Distirb\Download folder is installed to ensure consistency of the entire NVC installation(s).
