On 1 December published a Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer.

This solves a new security issue that could involve remote code execution if a user is tricked to view a specially created web page or HTML-based email message.

Microsoft Severity Rating for this issue is Critical

Critical is Microsoft's highest vulnerability rating.

More detailed information is available in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-40.

The Internet Explorer update is available from Windows update mechanism for those systems that support this. Other operating systems supported by Microsoft may download updates from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

Norman advices all affected users to download the security update as soon as possible, to be protected from potential exploits.
