Norman's assessments of current virus threats are shown below.

Information about the listing

The listing of current virus threats shows the malicious programs that Norman at any point in time view to be of most risk to computer users.

A few items are important to know when interpreting the list.

  • The list consists of malicious software in the categories HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW RISK. If any malware is not present in any of these categories that category is now shown.
  • The date in front of the malware name represent the first time that particular malware was placed on the list (even if it has been removed and added again).
  • An entry of the list may be for a malware family instead of a particular malicious program. This is often the case if malware variants of a particular virus/worm/etc are created in huge numbers with only minor difference in functionality. Such malware families often comprise more than 10.000 different "members".
  • Some malware has been of the list for very long. Nevertheless they still are seen in large numbers, as the statistics from Norman's managed email service shows. The list is supposed to show the current threats, as opposed to the newest threats.
