Oslo, Norway – 19 November 2009 - Norman ASA, a leading innovator of proactive anti-malware solutions, is announcing that Norman Security Suite on Windows 32 has now earned the ICSA Labs Certification for cleaning on the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. Norman already received the ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification for detection on Windows 7.
To achieve the Anti-Virus Certification from ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon Business, Norman’s Antivirus product has met all criteria for cleaning of malware on desktops and servers, which includes removal of “in-the-wild” viruses from infected files and sectors. The certified products must be able to remove all viruses without adversely affecting the data or functionality that existed before the infection. Before cleaning the system, the products must have demonstrated the capability to detect, identify and prevent self-replicating malware while reporting no false positives. It also passed the criteria to log the results of virus-detection attempts.
“Norman’s commitment to deliver security products to protect new platforms was demonstrated recently when we passed the ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification Program for Detection,” said Audun Lødemel, VP marketing and business development. “Earning the certification for cleaning means that we are able to supply our customers with a safe way of restoring their system after an infection. It also provides new customers with a clean state-of-health after installing our security suite on the new Windows 7 operating system. Despite the fact that the Windows 7 operating system has increased protection measurements, the ongoing stream of malicious code requires up-to-date protection to provide a safe working environment.”
“Achieving certification in both detection and cleaning demonstrates Norman’s commitment to providing their customers with a comprehensive anti-virus solution,” said Andrew Hayter, anti-malcode program manager, ICSA Labs. “ICSA Labs works closely with product vendors and corporate users to develop thorough, up-to-date testing standards for anti-virus products. Cleaning a system will always be a part of that. Our certification programs provide continuing assurance on security products, with the overriding goal of helping end-users make informed buying decisions for their organizations."
Norman has earned various certifications from ICSA Labs for products such as Norman Endpoint Protection, Norman Network Protection and Norman Virus Control.
