Norman SandBox Anti-Malware Security Technology Recognized As Most Innovative Idea in Past Decade at VB2010 Conference

Fairfax, VA – Oct. 7, 2010 - Norman ASA, a leading security company, today announced that Norman’s SandBox® proactive anti-malware technologies were recognized with the “most innovative idea in the past 10 years” award at the VB2010 Conference. Norman SandBox technology is a key component in all of Norman’s anti-malware offerings and is used in businesses, government, finance, higher education and other organizational environments around the world.

Kurt Natvig, Norman’s Chief Technical Strategist, researched and developed the SandBox concept between 1999 and 2008, including Norman SandBox Analyzer anti-malware products. The SandBox technologies were rapidly adopted by some of the world’s largest and most sophisticated network and service providers to protect against cyber incidents. The Norman research team continues to improve SandBox technologies to meet the toughest requirements of customers including government, intelligence agencies and financial organizations.

“The world’s leading security experts recognize that Norman SandBox is the gold standard for proactive anti-malware detection technologies,” said Torgny Gunnarsson, Norman CEO and President. “On a daily basis cyber criminals use malicious software to attack targeted networks, companies and organizations – in increasing volumes. In this demanding environment, SandBox automated malware analysis technologies deliver an impressive ROI by significantly reducing malware analysis time.”

The Norman SandBox is a fully emulated Windows environment clone for simulating code execution, built to fight cyber threats. The operating system, software, system hardware, and network are all simulated, unlike any other tool on the market. Focused on analyzing malicious threats, Norman enables quick adaptation to the changing threat landscape.

Additionally, Norman SandBox technology is used throughout its portfolio, including in Norman’s endpoint protection suites, network protection appliances and malware analyzers.

Righard Zwienenberg, Chief Research Officer, was a featured speaker at the VB2010 Conference in Vancouver, Canada on October 1, and accepted the award. Zwienenberg, active for 22 years in the industry, is recognized for being the principal evangelist for Sandbox malware analysis technologies globally. The event was attended by cyber security leaders and researchers from enterprises, government, military, education and international organizations.
