Fairfax, VA – May 20, 2010 - Norman ASA, a leading security company based in Oslo, Norway, with offices in Europe, the U.K. and the U.S., today announced it has named Torgny Gunnarsson as the new CEO and President. Gunnarsson brings more than 20 years of international experience from the IT industry, predominantly within security software. Gunnarsson joins Norman from Symantec where he most recently held the position as Vice President EMEA for Symantec Hosted Services.
“We are very excited to announce that Torgny Gunnarsson will start as CEO & President of Norman effective May 24, 2010,” said Norman Chairman Frode Strand-Nielsen.
During his total 14 year tenure with Symantec, Gunnarsson held various executive and senior management roles. He was also responsible for establishing Symantec into the Nordic market in the early 1990s. Prior to his most recent role, he was Vice President Global Strategic Partners & Alliances in EMEA and before that, Regional Vice President for Northern Europe.
“Norman has a long and successful history in the security industry and represents significant potential for further development. I am excited about the opportunity to lead Norman into its next phase of growth,” Gunnarsson said.
Gunnarsson has a Diploma in Economics and Marketing from IHM Business School and holds an officers rank in the Swedish Armed Forces. Together with his wife and their two children, Gunnarsson will continue to live in London for the time being. He will commute weekly to Norman offices in Oslo, Europe and the U.S.
Strand-Nielsen said the Board is delighted to have hired Gunnarsson and strongly believes that he will lead the organization to new achievements and take Norman to its full potential.
