For users of Norman Endpoint Protection

Right-click the Norman icon and choose Norman Endpoint Protection. In the following window, click Support Center, then choose Automatic repair.

Wait for a minimum of 5 minutes and restart the computer.

For users of Norman Virus Control

If you are still using Norman Virus Control we recommend that you upgrade to Norman Security Suite, for home and home office users, or Norman Endpoint Protection, for business and enterprise users.

If an upgrade is not possible because of software restrictions or other reasons, follow the steps described below.

Repair of all Norman antivirus software

The instructions below can be followed if the graphical user interface does not work in your Norman product or you have to start the repair process manually.

Repair

1.1 Press the ”Start” button.

1.2 If you have Windows 2000, you have to find the file ”delnvc5.exe” on your computer or download the file from the link at the bottom of the page.
Press “Run” if you have Windows XP.
If you have Windows Vista/7, click in the search field where it says “Search in programs and files”.

1.3 Write ”delnvc5” and press ”Ok”. You will now be presented with a new window where you will have the options “Repair” and “Remove”. (If you for any reason cannot run the command “delnvc5”, you can search your computer for a file with the name “delnvc5” and then run it, or you can download the file from the link at the bottom of the page.)

1.4 Select ”Repair” and press next. Follow the instructions given in the window.
The repair process will now attempt to repair any broke part of Norman.
Wait for a minimum of 5 minutes and restart the computer.

Reinstallation

If you still experience problems after following the steps given above, you can attempt uninstalling and then reinstalling your Norman product.

2.1 Repeat all the steps given above until you are presented with the “Repair” and “Remove” options.

2.2 Select “Remove” and press next. Follow the instructions given in the window.
This process will now remove the Norman product installed on your computer.
When this process is finished, you will have to manually delete the ”Norman” folder on your computer.
(You will need to restart your computers before you can delete the folder.)
The deletion of the folder will not happen automatically. You can do this by opening “My Computer”, double clicking on “Local Disk (C:)” and then going into the folder “Program Files”. There you have to find a folder with the name “Norman” and delete the folder.

You can now reinstall your Norman program. If you do not have installation files, you can find it by following the link below.
