Norman Antispam is an antispam and antiphishing security software that makes dealing with unwanted emails painless and effortless. Tight integration with popular email systems like Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Mail means you'll hardly notice Norman Antispam as it protects your inbox from email security threats like phishing attempts and spam. Normans efficient Livefeed system makes this antispam solution respond faster and more accurately to new spam outbreaks making it a more secure system.
For every message:
- Norman’s LiveFeed reputation system provides real-time analysis from Norman’s global data network.
- The four spam identification engines utilize more than one million reputation queries, pattern matches or rules to identify spam with an incredibly high accuracy rate, and a near-zero false positive rate.
- Results are combined using SpamScore, a proprietary statistical formula, into one final spam probability score.
Traffic Reputation: LiveFeed is more than just IP Blacklists
Norman’s LiveFeed reputation technology is more accurate, complete and up-to-date than other IP “reputation” techniques which are simply glorified IP blacklists. LiveFeed has the most granular analysis, with more than 200 scores, and is the most thorough as it focuses on all hard-to-fake attributes, including domains, URLs as well as IP addresses. In addition to http queries, LiveFeed uses DNS via UDP for faster response and near real-time results.
Consistent accuracy without peaks and valleys
Norman’s mathematics-based statistical approach consistently provides the highest spam detection with the fewest false positives. Norman’s technique allows it to respond faster and accurately to new outbreaks like PDF spam, MP3 spam and image spam without the “learning curve” other methods require.
For each message, Norman SpamCompiler applies checks of its four spam detection engines
- SpamBulk Engine: Is the message or similar messages sent in bulk?
- SpamRepute Engine: Do most people want the message?
- SpamContent Engine: Will most people consider the message offensive?
- SpamTricks Engine: Is the message formatted or sent to bypass anti-spam reputation checks or to be economical for spammers?
Since spam constantly evolves, Norman SpamLabs continuously collects and analyzes millions of new spam and legitimate messages and user feedback to tune reputation checks and databases and adjust the weighting of lookups.
