Five critical updates for Microsoft systems in August 2009

In its security bulletin summary for August 2009 Microsoft has published five updates for critical vulnerabilities in its operating systems / applications, as well as four important.

Critical is Microsoft’s highest vulnerability rating.

The critical update addresses the following issues:

  • Several privately reported vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office Web Components.
  • Two privately reported vulnerabilities in Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection,
  • Two privately reported vulnerabilities in Windows Internet Name Service (WINS).
  • Two privately reported vulnerabilities in Windows Media file processing.
  • Several privately reported vulnerabilities in Microsoft Active Template Library (ATL).

Updates that fixes the vulnerabilities are available from Windows automatic update mechanism for systems that support this. Alternatively, one may download updates from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
