Problem description

On Windows NT/2000/XP (running NTFS), files residing in the Program Files folder are, by Microsoft, given better protection than files residing elsewhere.

Default installation path for NVC is c:\Norman.

To provide the same protection for NVC files as files in Program Files, the agent (Zanda) duplicates the user rights on Program Files to the Norman folder.

Problem solution

If you have modified the default security settings for Program Files, and have problems with distribution/update of NVC, you should consider:

  1. to restore the original security settings of the folder Program Files
  2. to install the NVC distribution directory to Program Files. When your distribution folder is installed as a subfolder to Program Files, the agent will not override the security settings you want to enforce.
