Problembeschreibung

Norman Virus Control / Norman Endpoint Protection may cause reduced network performance for some client-server applications.

This problem may occur if you have configured the On-access scanner (Local users) to scan files on network drives. Enabling this option is not necessary in networks where the server(s), which the clients can access, have their own antivirus software.

Problemlösung

To solve the problem, exclude scanning of network drives by following these steps:

Norman Endpoint Manager/Norman Endpoint Protection

  1. Log in to Norman Endpoint Manager
  2. Navigate to Policies
  3. Edit the policy/policies belonging to the clients experiencing the problem
  4. Configure Antivirus settings
  5. Tick the box "Exclude network drives", click Ok.
  6. Wait for the new policy to be distributed to the clients

Norman Virus Control

  1. Open \norman\distrib\nvc\config\default.ndf on the distribution server
  2. Navigate to Norman Virus Control | On-access scanner (local users)
  3. Under Exclude from scan, select Files on network drives. Save.
  4. Wait some minutes until the clients have replicated the new configuration file from the distribution server (this should normally happen within 5 minutes).

You might have to reboot the client to kick-start the replication. If this does not succeed, try to push the new configuration file using Ndesk. If none of these suggestions succeed you have to manually copy default.ndf from the distribution server to \norman\config\config.ndf on all clients.
