Norman Internet Update through proxies/firewalls fails

Problem description

A firewall or proxy blocks Norman Internet Update and I cannot access the validation server and update Norman the installation.

Problem solution

By default, Norman Internet Update use http port 80. If a proxy or firewall is filtering the http traffic from the machine(s) running NIU, you must submit its address and port number on the tab Internet in the NVC configuration. If NIU still fails, run

[normandir]\nvc\bin\niu.exe /trace

from a command prompt. Send the trace log to the support department of your local Norman subsidiary or distributor, together with the NVCCF.NDF from the [normandir]\nvc\config folder and a detailed description of the proxy/firewall.
