Error message "Access to data denied" when opening Lotus Notes mail or documents

Problem description

I get the error message

Access to data denied

when opening Lotus Notes mail or documents

Problem solution

This error may occur if you have enabled "Scan new or changed files" in the configuration for On-access scanner (Local users). Disable this option to solve the problem.

  1. Open the Configuration Editor 
  2. Select On-access scanner (Local users) from the Norman Virus Control configuration branch 
  3. Unselect "Scan new or changed files
  4. Save

Note! Even if you disable "Scan new or changed files" in On-access scanner (Local users), malware will be caught by the On-access scanner module that scans operations from services and remote users, or by the On-access scanner (Local users) which scans files before they are used by the local user.
