Problem description
What does it mean when the green Norman tray icon has a yellow warning sign with an exclamation mark on it?
Problem solution
| A yellow triangle warning sign with an exclamation mark (!) will appear on the Norman tray icon for one or more of the following reasons: - When the scanner engine is out or date. We recommend that you keep Internet update (NIU) on the default automatic setting or run it manually on a daily basis.
- When the On-access scanner is deactivated.
The On-access scanner is a vital part of your protection, and should not be turned off unless you have no other option to be able to complete your task successfully. In such cases, the warning sign is there to help you remember to activate the On-access scanner again as soon as possible. - When the personal firewall is deactivated. (if Norman's firewall is installed)
Without an active firewall your computer is vulnerable to attacks, and should not be left deactivated. The firewall should be deactivated for troubleshooting only. The warning sign is there to remind you to reactivate your firewall as soon as possible. - When the installation requires a computer restart to complete an update.
Mouse-over hints will tell you why the tray icon is displaying the yellow warning triangle. |
