Problem description

Both Internet Explorer and Firefox are eating cpu when browsing the client list. This gets worse with the number of discovered clients.

Problem solution

The Clients-view on Norman Endpoint Manager (NEM) will be slow in IE6, faster on IE7 and IE8, and much faster in Mozilla-based browsers. However, the view is always slow when you get up into 3-digit numbers of clients.

This is fixed by creating groups to put categories of clients in. It is ok to have several groups that subscribe to the same policy.

Another mechanism that can make the clients-view more spiffy, is to create sorting rules under Settings -> Topology filters to pre-sort discovered systems. This will help you avoid having all newly discovered clients end up in the 'lost and found' group
(Note! Sometime this can have undesirable effect).

In this first version, hierarchical NEMs are not supported. If you are planning to manage thousands of clients, you may want to set up alternate distribution points for software updates in your policies, to avoid network congestion around your NEM when rolling out larger update packages.
