Sony rootkit removal tool for Windows 2000/XP
As a measure against music piracy, certain recent CDs from Sony BMG Music Entertainment are equipped with copy protection software. This software uses cloaking techniques, which are also commonly used by virus writers. The CDs in question are labeled CONTENT ENHANCED & PROTECTED.
The Sony copy protection software itself is not malicious, but it exposes computers where it is installed to be exploited to hide malware.
